Located near the village of Mokra Gora, Serbia, Holiday Park Drvengrad is an Ethno village designed and externally built in the traditional Serbian style and spirit of the 19th century by the famous filmmaker Emir Kusturica. Mokra Gora is a beautiful mountainous area with green forests, sunny hills, numerous trekking paths, offering fresh air, quietness and tranquility, and all you need for complete rest and relaxation, far away from the bustle and whirl of the modern world. During the filming “Life is a miracle”, Emir Kusturica was charmed by the Mećavnik hill that was robbed of everything except plenty of sunshine and some inner beauty. He found and identified himself with this solitary hill begging for his bohemian, artistic and philanthropic company. Driven by this inner call, Emir Kusturica decided to build his own village on this sunny hill and a new home for him.

Around the world, Drvengrad (on English: Timber Town) is better known under its artistic name of Kustendorf, a place, where imagination meets creation, and where he organizes seminars for people who want to learn how to make cinema, music, ceramics, painting. Each winter, on this sunny hill, the meeting point of two beautiful Serbian mountains Tara and Zlatibor. takes place the international “ Kustendorf ” film and music festival: a great event where young filmmakers and students can meet famous actors and film producers, empowered and ennobled by the participation of bands and musicians.

A square paved by wooden blocks is in the center of the village and surrounded by authentic wooden cabins brought in from their original locations and placed on foundations made of stone. Streets in the village bear name of many famous people. The main street bears the name of a Nobel prize winner, writer Ivo Andrić, while the main square is named Nicola Tesla. In short, Drvengrad has everything a real town should have: a church, library, schools for the young and old, a cinema, a picture gallery, a swimming pool with spa center, a gym, sport hall, tennis courts, a congress hall and meeting facilities, heliodrom, two restaurants, souvenir shops and a cake shop and even a jail. The small streets with lots of greenery around the main street and square are enchanting, and between them, there was even a place for a kindergarten and a hair salon.

There are no identical wooden houses; each one is unique, fitting perfectly in this picturesque environment, where nature by means of art meets culture. In the Damned Yard café bar, an orchestra of happy old men performs each evening traditional Serbian music, including some of Kusturica’s songs. No microphones, no sound equipment – just their voices and musical instruments making the whole bar full of joy. Located on the south-eastern perimeter, the fitness trail, an integral part of Holiday Park Drvengrad, is 1,500m long. Its surface is covered, either by grass or packed dirt and it goes through a forest. This walking trail is suitable for leisurely walks but it can also be used by professional sportspeople for conditioning training.

An old steam train named “Ćira” passes along the Šargan eight railway just above the Holiday Park Drvengrad Mokra Gora. The Sargan railway track Mokra Gora is the narrowest in Europe ( only 0.76 meters ), and to pass distance from Sargan to Mokra Gora, sliding up and down an extraordinary number-eight-shaped track route, train “Ćira” goes over 5 bridges and through 20 tunnels. If to this was added, the vicinity of the “Iver” Ski Center that hosts FIS ski runs, Holiday Park Drvengrad Mokra Gora attracts more and more visitors every year and is one of the top tourist attractions in Serbia.
